How are you all doing? Whenever September arrives, it always feels to me like we’re reaching the end of the year, even though I know there are still a few more months to go. I always look forward to this time of the year, because it means the US Open is back! I’m not really a sports person, but you can always catch me watching tennis and F1.

Earlier this week, I spent a few days in LA, and had a blast — I love going to the west coast. A change of scenery is sometimes all we need from the humdrums of daily life. Anyway, this month’s newsletter is a little more shopping-focused than usual, but I hope you enjoy it. As always, I love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for future newsletters.

Fall Jackets

Lately, I’ve been gravitating towards elegant jackets; think Chanel, but certainly not as expensive. There’s something so chic about pairing an “evening” jacket with more unconventional pieces like cargo pants or a loose pair of jeans. Here are my picks:

Denim Shirts

I’ve been looking for a denim shirt that I can start wearing as temperatures continue to cool off. As a Canadian, double denim is clearly in my blood, whether it’s with black, white or blue denim. Surprisingly, not too many brands make denim shirts that can double as a jacket and are still thin enough to wear as a standalone top. Here’s what I would buy:

Five Things I Bought

Below are five things that I bought and loved last month:

1. Margiela Décortiqué Jeans: I bought these a few months ago, but don’t think I ever wrote about them! These jeans are pricey, but I think the unique design makes up for it

2. Khaite Waverly Sweater: I bought yet another Khaite sweater during their summer sale. I’ve been looking for a white v-neck cashmere sweater for fall, and this checked all the boxes. For a less expensive option, I love this one from Naked Cashmere

3. The Row Boheme Flats: I love my black Margiela Tabi flats, but I’ve wanted a strappy ballet flat for some time. These are incredibly comfortable and buttery soft

4. By Malene Birger Trinola Top: True to my word from last month’s newsletter, I bought this amazing, dramatic top

5. Sophie Buhai Donut Ring: I am a sucker for rings and recently added this to my collection. The subtle, rounded shape is chic and certainly not basic

2 - HOME

Candles

I love lighting a candle to wind down after a long day. There’s something so relaxing and therapeutic about the smell of a candle filling the room. Here are my favourites that I keep on rotation:

Vintage Furniture

Over the years, I have come to appreciate vintage furniture. I’m not yet at a point where I can spend oodles of money on Charlotte Perriand stools or Jean Prouvé daybeds, but a girl can always window shop! Here are my favourite galleries and showrooms to browse for vintage furniture:

4 - OTHER

Art

I’m thrilled that art galleries are back after their summer break, and look forward to checking out a number of NYC shows this month, including: Ruth Asawa, Nicolas Party, Sam Gilliam and Paulo Monteiro
