Skincare Routine (Face)The last time I wrote about my skincare routine was back in 2022, so we are overdue for an update! I’m not particularly loyal to any skincare brand — I’ll try anything as long as it works, so what you’ll find below is a hodgepodge of products. My full skincare routine is apparently too long for this newsletter (oops), so I’m breaking it up into face (this month) and body (next month). In the morning, the first thing I do most days is work out. If I’m leaving the apartment, I put on EltaMD’s Sport Sunscreen or Isdin’s Mineral Sunscreen and run out the door. These are my favourite sunscreens because they absorb quickly and don’t leave any streaks. Once I’m home/done my workout, I shower and wash my face. I alternate between a few cleansers in the shower — these days, it’s SK-II’s Cleansing Oil and Reflekt’s Face Wash (JACQUELINE15 for 15% off). In the shower, I exfoliate my face a few times a week with Goldfaden’s Doctor’s Scrub or Kora’s Turmeric Mask. Once I’m out of the shower, I apply skincare in the order of: toner, serum, eye cream, face oil, and face cream. For toner, I use Dr. Loretta’s Milky Essence — it’s similar to Rhode’s Glazing Milk, which I also like. Both are hydrating and light. I have many serums in rotation at the moment: Clé de Peau’s Serum, Barbara Sturm’s Super Anti-Aging Serum and Eighth Day’s Regenerative Serum. For eye cream, I always come back to La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Eye Cream and Sisley’s Eye Contour Fluid. Face oil is a must for me — my face is quite dry, so I always need a healthy coat. I love Furtuna’s Face Oil and U Beauty’s Face Oil (JACQUELINE20 for 20% off). Lastly, I put on face cream, which right now is SK-II’s Skin Power Cream or Eighth Day’s Moisturizer. After face cream, if I remember, I gua sha my jawline for a minute with FaceGym’s Sculpting Tool. I still can’t tell if it makes a difference, but psychologically it helps me to think that I look less puffy. I also have the NuFace Trinity, which I like, but it requires daily usage and once you stop, it’s hard to pick it back up. If I’m going out, I reapply sunscreen and start my makeup routine. At night, I cleanse/remove my makeup with Tata Harper’s Regenerating Cleanser or The Outset’s Micellar Cleanser. I’ve tried a lot of cleansers, and these two are my favourite, as they remove makeup in one go and keep my skin hydrated. I repeat the same routine as the morning — the only difference is that sometimes I use retinol or “night” products. Once a week or whenever I remember to, I put on a face mask. I use sheet masks primarily on flights (always 111Skin’s Black Diamond masks - JACQUELINE15SM for 15% off), so at home I use Sisley’s Black Rose Cream Mask or La Prairie’s Hydralift Mask. In terms of treatments/injectables, I get facials and lasers once a quarter (hydrafacials, microneedling, Clear+Brilliant), and very light micro Botox and fillers once or twice a year. Lasers have made a significant difference — I received so many compliments on my skin after Clear+Brilliant (which has never happened before). I used to be embarrassed about treatments/injectables, but I couldn’t care less now. It takes work to maintain good skin, and whoever tells you otherwise is prob lying lol.
